We offer two types of motor, designed for different riding styles:
Mid-drive motor
Positioned in the centre of the e-bike, a mid-drive motor works through your gears with a balanced and natural feel.
It's particularly efficient on hills, trails, or when carrying heavy loads due to its responsiveness.
Rear-hub motor
Built into the rear wheel, a rear-hub motor is known for its simplicity and smooth, quiet power compared to the supercharged mid-drive motor.
It's perfect for flat terrain and urban journeys, making it ideal for city commuters and those who value low-maintenance support for their rides.

The battery is the smart energy source that brings the power of your e-bike's motor to life, providing range and confidence and acting as a dependable reserve.
Our TENWAYS e-bike batteries:
- Use high-quality cells, which provide 300-500 full-charge-to-full-depletion cycles.
- Have an advanced Battery Management System (BMS) acting as a guardian and protecting the battery from common issues such as overheating, overcurrent, or overcharging for safety and longevity.
- Are a mix of integrated and removable/portable batteries, depending on the e-bike model, providing convenience for those who want to charge on the go.

The brain: The sensor & controller
This is where the brain comes in! The sensor and controller are the crucial link between you and your e-bike.
The sensor tells the controller not only when, but also how much power assistance you need.
Then, the controller interprets the signals sent by the sensor to manage and distribute power from the battery to the motor for smooth, on-demand assistance—everything works in sync!
There are two main types of sensors: cadence and torque.
Cadence sensors
Cadence sensors work by a magnet on a crank passing a sensor as you start or stop pedalling, focusing on when you’re pedalling and how fast.
This makes cadence sensors optimum for flat routes, as they are less sensitive to changes in the gradient of your journey and have no way to adjust to hillier conditions.
Torque sensors
Torque sensors, comparatively, are much more responsive to the rider and the amount of force they're exerting as they ride, allowing the motor to be more responsive to the actual conditions.
It's a smoother and more intuitive option because it's tailored to the rider. It also allows for greater efficiency with battery power, as assistance is only engaged when the rider applies pressure.
When braking or coasting, no battery power is wasted!
