5 tips to prepare your e-bike for the spring

Little by little, blossom by blossom, spring is arriving at the doorstep, and warmer days are calling out to bike riders. If your e-bike has been in storage all winter, you probably can't wait to hop on and spin those wheels. After all, who doesn't love the crisp, fresh breeze of the early spring? To fully enjoy these little luxuries, it's important to do a little basic maintenance. When the sun is shining, we want our e-bikes to shine too! Here we present 5 simple steps to prepare your e-bike for the coming springtime.

Get cleaned up

Before getting back into your cycling routine in the spring, it is always a good idea to give your bike a thorough clean. When cleaning e-bikes, you have to be gentle, as a high-pressure water hose can damage the electric circuit. Instead, mild soapy water and a clean cloth work like magic. Be sure to clean all the dirt and debris from your e-bike, so the moving parts can run smoothly and silently.

Get charged up

Though this sounds like a no-brainer, trust us on this: you want your battery to be fully charged before the first ride. When you're out there feeling the fresh breeze in your hair, you'll undoubtedly want to keep on riding. Though this slightly contradicts our usual advice, for this one time, charge your e-bike to 100%. After a long winter's wait, you deserve to get the most out of your first adventure in the spring. When your heart is craving the open air, a half day's wait for the battery to charge seems like a bummer. So why not choose an e-bike that charges up like a flash? The TENWAYS CGO600 can be 100% charged in just 2.5 hours, one of the quickest on the market. Check out our CGO600, your go-to e-bike to kickstart your springtime fun.

Inflate the tires

All tires will slowly lose air over time and after a few months in the garage, it's time to pump them up. Ideally, a tire pump with a PSI (pressure per square inch) gauge is recommended; your tires will have a specific PSI range, usually written somewhere on the side. While pumping up the tires, it's also important to check for any possible tears, punctures, or cracks, and get a replacement if needed.

Check the brakes

If it has been a while since the last ride of your e-bike, a check on the brakes is definitely needed. When pressing down on the brake lever, it should feel both solid and consistent. Also, the brake levers should never touch the handlebars. Always check for any possible grease or dirt on the brake discs, as this is usually the cause of sudden squeaking noises.

Tighten up the parts

As the final step, it is a good idea to check the tightness of all bolts and nuts. Thorough checking is recommended, as things can get loose over time. Use the provided tools (they usually come with the e-bike delivery) to tighten the bolts and nuts and keep in mind not to over-tighten them as this can be just as damaging to the e-bike. Like most things in life, the trick to this is finding the right balance.

Get ready today

Spring is in the air, and it is time to awaken your beloved e-bike from its hibernation. Double-checking the brakes, bolts, and tires, and wiping off any dust and grime, will get your e-bike in optimal condition. We hope you find these tips helpful and wish you all fun springtime riding!
